Connecting Cultures | 27 and 28 august
Connecting cultures by food, art, dance, music, clothing and literature. Almere is home to over 145 nationalities, of which many appear with their culture and products in cooking theaters and regional markets.
Each square in Almere Centrum will represent another world continent like Asia, Africa, America, Europe and Oceania. Each area will have its own specific regional market, music program, cooking theater and an activity theatre. Come enjoy the taste, culture and music of every part of the world!
Cooking workshop
You can cook as a visitor during these cooking workshops, and you can enjoy delicious traditional dishes and snacks. You learn new recipes and you will take a look in the cooking world of different cultures. The ongoing cooking workshops are given in timeslots of 2 hours, so many different dishes and snacks from various cultures can be made. This can be done on Saturday (between 10-17 hrs) and/or Sunday (between 12-17)

Cooking Demonstration
Delicious dishes will be prepared before your eyes. You will enjoy the smells of the cuisines of different cultures. The chefs will wear a headset and describe exactly what they are cooking and how they make it. At the end of the cooking demonstration, visitors can taste delicious snacks. The cooking demonstration lasts about 20 minutes. This can be seen on Saturday (between 10-17 hrs) and/or Sunday (between 12-17)

Foodcourt
You will enjoy many food trucks with delicious snacks. These snacks are prepared in a traditional way by different cultures. This can be done on Saturday (10-18 hrs) and/or Sunday (12-18)]

Cultural Market
During the connecting culture event network, there will be a large cultural market with various products for sale. These products are all about the various cultures within Almere. Saturday (10-17 hours) and/or Sunday (12-17 hours).

Activity Theatre
There will be a activity theatre for children and/or adults that have to do with your culture. There will be workshops an activity’s where something is made, but also for example telling a story. The activities are offered in timeslots of 2 hours, so many different activities can be held. Most activities are free to participate in.

Traditional Costume Parade
Different cultures participate in a special traditional costume parade, where there will be people dancing, singing and partying. Come along on Saturday 27 August to enjoy this big party. At 01:30 pm we will walk a parade through Almere Center together with many cultures accompanied by various traditional music groups.

Art and Literature Exhibit
On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August you can come and take a look at the art exhibition gallery. There will be art exhibited from different countries.

Musical art or Dance
On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August you can enjoy performers with traditional musical art, dance acts. Dancing, singing and celebrating that's what it's all about at the connecting culture event. There is a stage at Grote Markt and a stage by the foodcourt at the Esplanade.
