Admire the spectacular video mapping projections at striking locations in Almere Centrum from 19:30 to 23:00 hrs during the weekends of 7 - 9 and 14 - 6 October. Enjoy the complete route by starting at on Stationsplein and finish at Esplanade.
I: Green LiGHT stories
Location: Stationsplein
Start at Primark on Stationsplein and admire the plants that appear to be behind glass. This projection creates the illusion of a glass window with a concealed, green world behind it. Obscuration, condensation and light reflections give a sneak-peek into the world behind the glass.
II: Green Dragon
Location: Stationsplein
On Stadhuisplein you’ll discover the Green Dragon. While statues ceaselessly pace the tops of the buildings, from one side to the other and back again, on top of the apartments above McDonalds and Diforza. Long, graceful plant shapes dance across and through the facade. And, because the windows are recessed into the buildings, the green ornamental shapes around them seem to reach towards the outside.
III: Green Concrete
Location: Stadhuisplein
Step from a world of concrete into green, at the Stadhuis! Here hard concrete turns into enchanting, 3D blocks that give the building an illusion of depth. The blocks then slide aside and, in their place, a green world, that could only be admired through glass at Primark, now appears.
IV: Flower Shower
Location: De Diagonaal
At the beginning of De Diagonaal, near the new library and New Yorker, you’ll walk over a swirling, tangle of flowers - the Flower Shower. The Flower Shower is Almere's most Instagram-worthy spot during these weekends. So don't miss it. It’s the place to be! The ground is dotted with a delightful confusion of projected flowers, swirling across the surface. Transporting you into the most colourful field of flowers you have ever experienced. At various places, small timers are counting down. And every time they hit zero, a completely new and massive quantity of colourful, animated flowers cascades over the audience.
V: LiGHT-UP collective
Location: De Diagonaal
On the pillars near the glass canopy at Douglas and Hema, the audience becomes an important part of the world of video projection. Here you can experience interactive light drawing, both on and with the audience. Using digital drawing tablets, you can literally draw on each other, with light. Under the guidance of light artists, you can experience creating light art in public spaces, together.
VI: Larger than LiGHT
Location: Esplanade
The Esplanade will provide you with the ultimate experience on the Light Art Route! One in which the public plays the leading role. A photo booth with a selfie stick will be set up on the square and remotely photograph and/or video the people on the square. This will then be projected, live and life-size, on the outer wall of the Kunstlinie. It’s the ultimate form of contemporary self-expression - the biggest selfie ever! These images will be complemented with animations from all the other worlds designed for the centre.
