Were you there or did you unfortunately miss it? The best way to experience ALLUMINOUS 2025 is in this aftermovie, which showcases the entire festival and program. Besides the 15 light artworks, this film also shows what else could be experienced at ALLUMINOUS 2025: a music program on three stages along the route, three food and beverage plazas with food trucks, lighting interventions along the route showcasing the Almere landscape; and above all, a huge, enthusiastic audience!

Photos ALLUMIOUS 2025
Below, we're pleased to provide an overview of ALLUMIOUS 2025 with our best photos from the festival!

ALLUMINOUS visitors on the Esplanade beach will discover the artwork 'Intrude' by artist Amanda Parer, a new icon for the ALLUMINOUS program in 2025.

Every evening, the artwork "Evanescent" by Atelier Sisu (a contribution to Carte Blanche's ALLUMINOUS program) creates a festive atmosphere as visitors wander through the artwork and take photos. This artwork is already an absolute crowd-pleaser at ALLUMINOUS 2025!

At Frouke ten Velden's artwork "Chromatic Echoes," ALLUMINOUS visitors learn how hugging trees, aided by technology, can reveal how your connection with nature can be unexpectedly beautiful, illuminated by light and LED spectacle. The artwork was developed for ALLUMINOUS on behalf of ALLUMINOUS partner Jij Bent M.

Every year, the Weerwater Bridge is a key element of ALLUMINOUS. This year, ALLUMINOUS lighting designer Robin Beekman, in collaboration with our regular Almere lighting supplier Luxonos, created a stunning design to completely transform the Weerwater Bridge for the ALLUMINOUS audience, transforming it from architecture into a work of light art.

This year, ALLUMINOUS audiences could once again discover new musical acts every evening on three stages along the festival route. ALLUMINOUS created the program in collaboration with partner Popodium de Meester and Salty, in collaboration with Kunstlinie for the stage on the Esplanade.

Live music acts were a major part of the ALLUMINOUS 2025 festival. With three stages each evening, dozens of young music acts and new audiences were able to find a place at the festival, culminating this year in performances by Popronde artists on Saturday, October 25th, as part of the festival.

As this drone shot of ALLUMINOUS already shows: the festival is for the entire city. So Stedenwijk is also in the spotlight during ALLUMINOUS: here with the visible A-frame lighting fixtures, and with several artworks along the Weewrater, making Stedenwijk a spectacular part of the ALLUMINOUS festival, year after year.

The dark Lumière Park is bathed in light during ALLUMINOUS, with the festival's illuminations illuminating the light artworks to prepare the public for entering the Lumière Grove, where a beautiful artwork by light artist Jaap van den Elzen and composer Anthony Fiumara (on behalf of the Black Pencil Ensemble) can be experienced.

Along the festival route, there are three food and beverage plazas where ALLUMINOUS visitors can take a break, catch their breath during the walking route, and enhance their culinary experience with a drink or snack. Food trucks will be available at each of the three food and beverage plazas to complete your festival experience.

In 2025, ALLUMINOUS visitors could also use the shuttle boat, allowing them to split their festival visit into two evenings. If the 5.5km walking route is a bit too long, the ALLUMINOUS shuttle boat can take you from the Esplanade to the Hortus every evening, thus halving the route.

The Almere landscape is the starting point for ALLUMINOUS: how can we use light art to demonstrate how you can experience Almere in a new way, discover it differently? Here, two young Almere visitors look at the artwork "Entropy" by artist Robin Beekman, on display at Schipperplein in the heart of Almere's city center.

During ALLUMINOUS 2025, the festival debuted large projections on the blank walls of four apartment buildings on the Stedenwijk side of the Weerwater, surrounding the Maastrichtkwartier district. For each of the four buildings, artist Max de Waard created four portraits of people from the future, "Tekheads," who have become completely integrated with technological gadgets that almost become jewelry, to be proudly worn. Suddenly, the four facades at Stedenwijk looked spectacular: full of AI-driven experiments with gigantic faces overlooking the Weerwater.

Rain or shine, in 2025, ALLUMINOUS visitors once again had to deal with some extreme weather while planning and experiencing their festival visit. But even in this fourth year of the festival, Almere residents (and all other visitors from outside the city) flocked to see the light artworks.
